Mapleleaf Residence: Weeks Four and Five
Sorry we're a little behind with this update; it's been a very busy two weeks. Here are some things we've been working on:
If Joyce had to go up and down that ladder one more time, she would have killed us. One thing we didn't build these stairs in time for: lifting 30+ sheets of drywall up to the second floor. Construction sequencing: important. These stairs will be painted our accent color (TBD).
We have been creating various holes and patching others. Need to get the exterior patched up so we can keep heat in for the drywall mud to work properly. Also, it's getting cold?
All of the drywall is hung and in the process of being taped/mudded. We hired someone to do that because we aren't insane.
List of stuff we had to do to complete for the drywall finisher. Did I mention I hate drywall?
Countertops, stone or otherwise:
Absolute black granite at the L-Shape and Carrara marble at the island. Preview of bamboo floor.
We're painting the exterior a very dark gray. We wanted to make it blend in with the roof. Don't worry, we still have something special planned here to break up the monotony.
So it turns out, when a house sits vacant for 3 years, spiders are allowed to grow to epic proportions. These Orb Weavers were all over the exterior of the house. Brad had one land on him while he was on top of a tall ladder and somehow managed to not die. They were not happy we were painting their house.
